The meaning of the journey

A line through history, mountains and communities.

In 1876 Giustino Fortunato conceived the idea and made his first exploratory attempts; the first complete crossing took place in 1877. One hundred and fifty years later, we return to that line to keep its historical, cultural and scenic value alive.

The 2026 edition is Year Zero: not only a celebration, but the first step towards turning the annual crossing into an established trail, shared and alive over time.

“Do not simply cross a territory. Learn to read it.”
